Yuletide: FRSC unveils operation to curb crashes

The Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi, says the corps has set up the 2019 operation zero tolerance aimed at ensuring free flow of traffic and preventing loss of lives along major highways during the yuletide season. Boboye, at a meeting with transport unions in Abuja yesterday, said the operation would reduce road traffic crashes and fatalities, ensure prompt response to road crash victims and clear obstructions on highways.

He said the operation would focus on speed limit violations, overloading and violations such as use of phones while driving, route violation and lane indiscipline.

He said all commanding officers had been directed to commence immediate plans towards ensuring more sittings of mobile courts during the operation.

Oyeyemi said over 6,000 officers,18,000 marshals and over 14, 000 special marshals would be deployed for the operation.
