Operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Imo State Police command have arrested two persons over the killing of another man in the state.
The victim, identified as Iheanacho Okorie, was allegedly killed by 29-year-old Nneji Onumajulu and his accomplice, Obioma Abua, 25.
The spokesman of the police in the state, SP Orlando Ikeokwu, said the police operatives on November 14 arrested the suspects at Ogbefu Market square, while acting on a petition written by the family of the deceased.
Ikeokwu said the suspects confessed that they chased the deceased on a motorcycle, and on getting to the market square, they shot him at close range.
“However to ensure that the deed was done, they used knife and stabbed him severally to ensure he never survives the attack,” he added.
The police spokesman said there was a strong drive to collect revenue in the community and the deceased was perceived as an obstacle leading to the gang up that later resulted in his death.
He said that investigation is still in progress while effort is on to arrest other fleeing suspects.
