‘NBA deserves president not beholden to govt’

In this interview with journalists, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), Dr Babatunde Ajibade, talks of the problem of money politics in the legal system, next month’s Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) elections, his rift with the Egbe Amofin, his ambition to lead the Bar and its implications for Southwest and Yoruba chances at the polls, among others. Why should lawyers choose you and not any of the other contestants, as President of the NBA in next month’s election?

I think lawyers should choose me over the other candidates for a variety of reasons. Firstly, I am the only one that combines the skills and practical knowledge of a solicitor and advocate, having been engaged in both transactional and litigation practice at relatively high levels. This puts me in a vantage position to understand and address the challenges encountered in both of these sides of legal practice in Nigeria.
