Gov. Lalong directs total lockdown for fumigation in Plateau

Gov. Simon Lalong of Plateau has directed total lockdown in the state with effect from 12 midnight of Thursday April 9 to 11p.m of Wednesday, April 15, 2020.

Lalong made the announcement in Jos on Monday at the Government House during a news briefing.

He said the lockdown was to enable government embark on fumigation in Jos-Bukuru metropolis and all the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.

“During this period, there will be no movement of any kind except for staff on essential duty.

“These include security agencies, medical and health workers, power and energy staff, fire service, media, telecom operators and fuel tankers,” he said.

He said government had purchased Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), monitors, infrared thermometers, oxygen and other essential drugs, adding that testing of COVID-19 would commence in Jos in a few days time.
