Court stops Ganduje from constituting Council of Chiefs

A Kano High Court, presided over by Justice Ahmed T. Badamosi, has stopped Governor Abdullahi Ganduje from constituting the Kano State Council of Chiefs and appointment of members.

Last Monday, the governor appointed Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammad Sanusi II, as Chairman of the Council of Chiefs.

With the law, the chairmanship of Council of Chiefs is rotational for two years among the five first-class Emirs.

The plaintiffs in the suit, who are also Kano Emirate kingmakers, are: Yusuf Nabahani (Madakin Kano), Abdullahi Sarki Ibrahim (Makama Kano), Bello Abubakar (Sarkin Dawaki Mai Tuta) and Muktar Adnan (Sarkin Ban Kano).
