Court jails two internet fraudsters in Ibadan

A Federal High Court 1, sitting in Ibadan, Oyo State, Wednesday, convicted and sentenced two internet fraudsters to prison after finding them guilty of criminal charges.

DAILY POST learnt the suit was filed against the duo by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Ibadan zonal office.

EFCC spokesman, Wilson Uwujaren, said this in a statement in Abuja.

Further, it was explained that Onifade Gideon Idowu and Akinjobi Mumeen were arraigned on an amended charge following plea bargain agreement with the Commission.

Also, the convicts were brought before the court on a one-count amended charge bordering on fraudulent impersonation, contrary to Section 22(2)(b)(i) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc.) Act, 2015 and punishable under Section 22(2)(b)(iv) of the…
